Job Title: Collections Officer

Job Level: Intern

Reports To: Recovery Manager


Financial Responsibility: N/A

Leadership Responsibilities: N/A

Purpose of Role: Responsible to ensure the bank’s delinquent portfolio is kept at the most minimal level through proactive approaches in line with the bank’s overall strategy

Duties &Accountabilities 

• Monitor and review loans performance for the purpose of identifying potential or existing credit losses

• Analysis of the customers’ files, financials, call reports and other reports with a view of developing the rescue plan of the facilities with symptoms of non performing.

• Initiate efforts for and engage in the commercial recovery exercises for stagnant facilities.

• Execution of the collection exercise on the past due customers

• Ensure the coordination of the issuance of notifications regarding the arrears, overdrawn amounts, expired credit lines and maturity of letters of credits

• Work in close liaison with RO/RMs to review and analyse daily reports e.g. Arrears report, exception reports

• Undertaking the monthly portfolio review and submit progress report from time to time

• Undertaking quarterly stress testing of the portfolio

• Preparation of monthly Performance and Sectorial Concentration reports

• Identify and recommend the accounts for early downgrading

• Any other duties as assigned by line manager

Qualifications and Experience/skills Required:

• Degree in Banking, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or any other related field

• Experience in banking or financial institution operations

• Proficient in Microsoft office applications

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to mitigate and prevent risk occurrences

• Good analytical and decision-making skills

Barriers to Success in Role: 

• Lack of Credit knowledge

• Lack of Microsoft office skills
